Recent News from Canna Farms
Based on client feedback, Canna Farms cultivates the following strains of cannabis on a regular basis: Pink Kush, Tangerine Dream, Girl Scout Cookies, Blue Widow, and Canna Bliss (High CBD). in addition to these house strains, we also release smaller batches of boutique strains in limited quantities for our clients to try. Please note that these boutique strains may sell out quickly, and may not be available all the time.
Canna Farms reports cannabinoid potencies on a fully-decarboxylated basis (taking into account the potential of the acidic cannabinoids to convert to their neutral forms). Head to our FAQ section to see an example calculation and to lean more about how to interpret a lab report.
Canna Farms performs terpene testing on select strains of cannabis. Terpenes are the essential oils found in cannabis, and are responsible for the different smells and tastes of various cannabis strains. Terpenes can also modulate the effects of cannabinoids such as THC and CBD via the "entourage effect". To help our clients with interpreting the terpene data, we have developed a simple way to visualize the relative levels of terpenes, making it easier to compare between strains.
Yellow - Limonene (a major component of citrus fruits)
Black - Caryophyllene (a major component of black pepper)
Green - Pinene (a major component of conifers)
Purple - Linalool (a major component in lavender)
Pink - Terpineol (a major component of lilac)
Brown - Terpinolene (a major component of all-spice)

Canna Farms is pleased to announce our new line of fully-decarboxylated Cannabis Oils!
Based on client feedback and our own research, we are initially offering the following product our clients in 25 and 50 mL containers, outfitted with a child-proof eye-dropper for discrete, standardized dosing:
- CANNA OIL 20 | 0 - This is our THC infused oil with approximately 20 mg of THC in every mL
- CANNA OIL 10 | 10 - This is our 1:1 THC:CBD Blend with approximately 10 mg of THC and 10 mg CBD in every mL
- CANNA OIL 0 | 10 - This is our CBD infused oil with approximately <1 mg THC and 10 mg CBD in every mL
What are Cannabis Oils?
Under the Section 56 Class Exemption, approved ACMPR Licensed Producers (LPs) are now able to produce and sell cannabis infused oils. Cannabis oil contains cannabinoids, such as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), as well as other minor cannabinoids (CBC, CBG, and CBN), and aromatic compounds (terpenes), which are extracted from fresh or dried cannabis, and dissolved in a carrier oil.
Under the ACMPR, cannabis oils must be liquid at room temperature, and contain no more than 30 milligrams of THC per millilitre of oil (~3.3% THC w/w) when sold in bulk form, and 10 milligrams of Total THC in capsule form (taking into account the potential to convert the acidic to neutral forms of THC). There are no potency limits placed on CBD or other cannabinoids. The cannabis oil must NOT contain any added flavours or scents, and any allergens in the carrier oil must be listed on the label.
Patients who want to try cannabinoid therapy but do not like the idea of smoking, vapourizing, or cooking with dried cannabis will benefit from our line of fully decarboxylated ("activated") cannabis oils, as they offer standardized, discrete dosing.
How does Canna Farms make its Cannabis Oils?
The active ingredients in cannabis may be extracted and separated in a number of ways, including water, CO2, alcohol, and organic solvents, such as butane. At Canna Farms, we like to keep things simple! We use a proprietary extraction process, which utilizes water and ice to obtain a pure, natural, concentrated whole-plant cannabis resin. This resin is rich in THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids and terpenes. This process does NOT use any harsh or dangerous solvents, which ensures safety for our clients as well as our staff.
After we collect the concentrated cannabis resin, our third-party analytical laboratory tests it for potency and purity. A known amount of cannabis resin is then taken and gently heated in a carrier oil to reach a desired cannabinoid potency. This heating allows for the cannabinoids to become fully decarboxylated, making the cannabis oil ready to use.
What is a Carrier Oil?
A carrier oil is used to dissolve the active ingredients in our cannabis resin to reach a consistent and standardized potency.
Based on client feedback, as well as our own R&D, we have chosen to use Grape Seed Oil, which has a very high content of polyunsaturated fats, and is rich in Omega 3-6 as well as Omega-9 essential fatty acids. Grape Seed Oil is NOT recognized as an allergen by Health Canada (HC) or the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA); however, some people may have sensitivities to it.
Grape Seed Oil
A light oil with a high smoke point; Perfect for baking
Density = 0.92 g/mL
Smoke Point = 216 °C (420 °F)
Oil Content = 69.6% Omega-6 fatty acids (Lineoleic), 15.8% Oleic Acid
Is the Equivalency Factor based on how much cannabis was used to make the cannabis oil?
No, not necessarily. As part of the licensing process, Health Canada requires that every Licensed Producer create a way to equate dried cannabis (prescribed in grams by Physicians) to cannabis oil (sold in milliliters). This makes it easier for Physicians to continue to prescribe cannabis in grams per day, and for us to be able to sell cannabis oils to our clients. Our goal was to propose a method of calculation to Health Canada that would maximize the amount of Cannabis Oil our clients were able to buy.
We actually have the highest equivalency factor in Canada at the moment (1 g = 12.5 mL for CANNA OIL 20|0). Other LPs have an equivalency factor of 1 g= 3-10 mL for products of similar potency and size. This means that their clients can order less oil, because it takes more away from their 30-day ordering window.
Let’s take a look at our recently released lot of CANNA OIL 20|0. It contains approximately 20 mg THC for every mL of oil (fully decarboxylated). So, in a 50 mL bottle, this amounts to approximately 1000 mg of THC (20 mg/mL x 50 mL = 1000 mg THC).
Now let’s compare to an “average” concentration of THC in some of the cannabis flowers that we use to make our oil (we’re using whole numbers to make it easy to follow). For the sake of argument, let's say that we use flowers with a potency of 10% THC (on a fully decarboxylated basis). This means that each gram of cannabis flowers contains 100 mg THC (1 gram = 1000 mg, 1000 mg x 0.1 = 100 mg). Theoretically we would have to use 10 grams of flowers to equal 1000 mg of THC (which is what we have in our 50 mL bottles). But this process is not 100% efficient (nothing ever is!). So we have to account for extraction efficiency during cannabis resin production, plus losses from decarboxylation, dilution, and packaging.
It actually turns out that we need to use at least 15-20 grams of flowers to make one bottle of cannabis oil.
How do I use Cannabis Oils?
Our Cannabis Oils are fully-decarboxylated and ready to use without the need for further heating or baking. You can use the dropper on the bottle to ingest a known amount of cannabis oil (on its own or mixed with food) or place a few drops under the tongue. Sublingual administration of cannabis oil provides the most immediate effect for the user. If you prefer to ingest the cannabis oil, always keep in mind, that 'like dissolves like.' Therefore, foods with a higher fat content will help to distribute the cannabis oil effectively and help the body to absorb the active ingredients. Great ways to ingest the oil would include mixing with a glass of milk, adding to a smoothie or milkshake, or mixing with your favourite food.
While you can cook with our cannabis oils, it is important to remember that we've done the hard work for you, and the oils are already decarboxylated. Further heating may cause degradation of the active cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD. Additionally, improper mixing of cannabis oil during cooking may result in under- or over-dosing, which can lead to undesirable effects (particularly with cannabis oils high in THC). Remember to keep the cooking/baking temperature below the carrier oil's smoke point, to preserve the integrity of the oil.
Cannabis oils are also quite potent, so use a little at a time, especially if you do not have much experience in ingesting cannabis. Whenever you ingest cannabis oils, just remember to "START LOW AND GO SLOW".
Our cannabis oils are outfitted with easy-to-use eye droppers, which allow for consistent dosing - 1 mL of oil is equal to approximately 40 drops. For CANNA OIL 20 | 0, this equates to approximately 2 drops for every 1 mg of THC.
Which Cannabis Oil is right for me?
Initially, Canna Farms will be offering cannabis oils in three different varieties: (1) High in THC, (2) High in CBD, and (3) Equal Parts (1:1) THC:CBD. We recommend talking to your Health Care Practitioner (HCP) about which oil is right for you. If you need any further clarification or information, one of our client service experts will be happy to help you.
What are the effects of ingesting Cannabis Oil, as compared to smoking or vaporizing Dried Cannabis?
When cannabis is smoked or vapourized, effects are generally immediate (0-15 minute onset) and short-lived (1-3 hours). This method of consumption may be preferable for clients with more acute conditions or disorders.
On the other hand, ingestion of cannabis oil can take up to 2 hours (or longer) for onset of effects. The effects themselves may last for up to 10 hours, depending on the potency and amount (volume) of cannabis oil taken, and the mechanism of delivery (drops placed under the tongue vs. ingested with food). Clients with chronic disorders may prefer this method of consumption.
Why are your Cannabis Oils low in potency, when compared with other cannabis extracts or concentrates?
Many people may be concerned that our cannabis oils are low in THC, as compared with other cannabis extracts or concentrates (such as hash, shatter, or BHO). The most important thing to keep in mind is that it is not the potency (% or mg/mL THC) that is important, but rather the total dose in mg THC (amount of cannabis extract in mg × potency of cannabis extract % or mg/mL).
The main thing to remember is that cannabis oil is made for ingestion rather than inhalation. Despite the fact that some cannabis extracts made for smoking/vapourizing can contain more than 50% THC by weight (versus 2-3% THC in our cannabis oils), the amount (grams or millilitres) of cannabis oil used by patients is much greater than their inhaled counterparts. Therefore a typical dose of THC (in mg) is quite comparable.
For example, 1 mL of our Canna Oil 20|0 contains 20 mg of THC. The State of Colorado now limits the amount of THC in edibles to 10 mg per piece, so 1 mL of this oil would be equivalent to two (2) edibles. Similarly, a 0.5 gram "joint" of 10% THC contains 50 mg of THC, but more than half of this THC is lost during the combustion process, resulting in a dose of 20-25 mg THC.
If you are inexperienced with Cannabis oils or tinctures, we suggest starting with a dose of 0-5 mg of THC, and waiting for at least 120 minutes (2 hours) before ingesting more. Sometimes it can take that long for the oil to take effect. Remember, everyone reacts differently to cannabis (especially when ingested), so it is important to always START LOW AND GO SLOW.
Can I use Cannabis Oil as a topical?
Although our Cannabis Oils are made for ingestion, some clients may opt to use them as topicals (applied externally to the skin). Talk to your HCP about which method is best for you.
Can I vaporize Cannabis Oils?
No, our Cannabis Oils are not intended for inhalation, only ingestion. Clients may try using the oils topically, under the advice of their HCP.
How do I store my Cannabis Oil?
Product freshness is highly dependant on storage conditions such as temperature, and exposure to oxygen and light. To prevent degradation of the cannabinoids over time (and to prevent the carrier oil itself from becoming rancid), Cannabis Oils should be stored in a cool, dark, and dry place (a fridge or freezer is perfect for this purpose). Depending on the carrier oil used, the cannabis oil may become slightly solid or cloudy. To regain its clarity and consistency, simply place the bottle in a glass of warm water and allow the contents of the bottle to warm.
As with any narcotic, always remember to close the child-resistant cap properly, and keep out of reach of children or pets.
if you have any further questions about our cannabis oils, please do not hesitate to contact one of our client service experts for more information.
LIVE CANNABIS PLANTS
Select strains of live cannabis plants now available direct from Canna Farms!
Under Health Canada's Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), clients with a valid ACMPR personal production license from Health Canada have the ability to cultivate their own cannabis plants for personal use. In order to do so, they must first purchase their starting materials (live cannabis plants or seeds) from a Health Canada approved Licensed Producer (LP).
As an independent, family-run, BC-based company, Canna Farms supports the right for individuals to grow their own medicine.
We are very excited to be the second LP in Canada to offer a variety of our CANNABIS strains to registered clients!
If you are interested in purchasing live cannabis plants (CANNA PLANTS) shipped direct from our licensed production facility, please take a moment to read through this section of our website.
Should you have any questions regarding the purchase of live cannabis plants, or wish to proceed with registration, please feel free to contact us at 1-855-882-0988 or firstname.lastname@example.org today.

How many cannabis plants can I buy?
The number of live plants that you can purchase is determined by Health Canada. Upon receiving your ACMPR Registration Certificate, you will be assigned a Maximum Plant Count for indoor or outdoor production. These figures will constitute the maximum number of live plants that you can order and cultivate at any given time.
Canna Farms will be offering live plants for purchase in groups of two (2).
How much does it cost to purchase live cannabis plants?
CANNA PLANTS will be sold in groups of two (2). These 2 plants must be of the same strain. Single (1) plants of a strain will not be sold.
Two (2) Plants (of the same strain) = $175 (plus applicable taxes)
Four (4) Plants (of the same strain) = $240 (plus applicable taxes)
Four (4) Plants (two different strains) = $315 (plus applicable taxes)
Six (6) Plants (three different strains) = $455 (plus applicable taxes)
Prices include shipping and handling, and are reflective of the production (growing, packaging, and shipping) and regulatory costs associated with each live cannabis plant.
How do I place an order for live cannabis plants?
Orders for live cannabis plants will need to be placed over the phone.
At this time, online ordering will NOT be available for live cannabis plants. Our client service experts will be able to provide information on current strain availability, and help guide you through the ordering process.
Once I have placed my order, how long until the plants are shipped?
Once your order is placed and paid for, it will take approximately 4 weeks before the order is shipped to you. Each cannabis plant is cut to order, and this is the time required for the clone to grow new roots and develop into a hearty plant. By the time they arrive to you, the live plants will be approximately 3-4 weeks old.
Canna Farms will only be shipping live cannabis plants on Mondays so as to ensure that they have ample time to complete their journey and arrive at your site by the end of the week.
How will the plants be shipped to me?
Live cannabis plants are shipped via Canada Post, directly from our facility in Hope, BC, to the address listed on your ACMPR Registration Certificate.
Plants will be shipped in packaging that has been specifically designed for the transportation of live plants, ensuring they remain in their 'vegetative' state. Packages will be equipped with insulation to prevent damage from short-term exposure to extreme temperatures; however prolonged exposure to extreme heat or cold may result in damage to the plants that is beyond our control and the responsibility of our courier.
How do I get my interim supply of dried cannabis/oil, while I wait for my plants to grow?
Growing your own cannabis can be a fun and rewarding experience, but keep in mind that it may take 3-4+ months before your home-grown cannabis is ready for consumption.
If you have chosen to grow your own cannabis, you will still have the option of obtaining an interim supply of dried cannabis and/or cannabis oil from a Licensed Producer of your choice. Should you choose to work with Canna Farms for your interim supply, the process is exactly the same as applying to receive live plants!
Once you have received your official ACMPR Registration Certificate from Health Canada, you must forward a copy of this document to Canna Farms. This document can be sent via email, fax, or mail. At the same time, you will need to complete a Registration Application. IMPORTANT: On this application, you must indicate that you are looking for an interim supply of dried cannabis/cannabis oil. This is critical! Applications that do not properly include this information will experience significant processing delays.
Please note - if you are an existing Canna Farms client, with a current authorization (prescription), you will still need to complete these steps before you may begin purchasing your interim supply.
I am not always home when the courier delivers my parcels. Can I change my shipping address?
Under the ACMPR, live cannabis plants may only be shipped to the following addresses listed on your ACMPR Registration Certificate: (1) the address where your cannabis will be PRODUCED, or (2) the address where your cannabis will be STORED.
This means that address amendments are not permitted for the shipment of live plants.
Once you are notified that your plants have been shipped, please make the appropriate arrangements to receive your order at the specified address.
How do I get a refund for my plants?
At Canna Farms, we take client feedback very seriously. It is always our goal to ensure that our clients are extremely satisfied with the service and products we provide. As such, we welcome you to share any concerns that you may have.
In the case of our CANNA PLANTS, clones are specifically cut for each individual order. Instances where a client may be less than satisfied with their live plant purchase will be assessed on a case by case basis, but our general company policy is that NO REFUNDS will be given for live cannabis plants, once the order has been placed (even if the order has not been shipped).
I have received my order of CANNA PLANTS. Now what do I do?
Congratulations, you are one step closer to growing your own high-quality cannabis!
First, ensure the box is positioned upright (as indicated by the sticker on the package). Inspect the box for damage (and document any damage with photos/videos). Carefully remove your plants from the box and associated packaging material. Inspect the plants for any physical damage (again, document any damage with photos/videos). Transport the plant to your pre-cleaned grow space, and transplant into a suitable container (we recommend a ~3 gallon nursery pot). Expose the plant to a 24 hour light cycle as soon as possible. Add some water if the soil feels dry.
Nutrient demands at this stage of growth are fairly low. A low conductivity, pH-balanced, high Nitrogen solution is recommended (but clear water is fine, as well). Allow the plant to adapt to its new surroundings before subjecting it to more intense light and nutrients.
What do I do if my plants are damaged during shipping?
ALL SALES OF LIVE CANNABIS PLANTS ARE FINAL.
Canna Farms takes the utmost care with packaging your live cannabis plants. We ensure that all measures are taken to keep the plants happy and healthy while they make their way to you. It is possible, however, that plants may become damaged during their voyage across the country.
Once the parcel leaves our facility, the responsibility for it's safe passage becomes that of the courier (Canada Post). Any plant damage, or loss of viability, will be assessed on a case by case basis, however our general company policy is that NO REFUNDS will be given for any damages to the plants during shipping.
A detailed insert is included with every order, outlining immediate actions that need to be taken to ensure the ongoing health of the plants. That insert will remind you that, should you happen to receive a damaged plant in your order, you must contact Canna Farms the same day the order is delivered to you. In failing to do so, you forfeit your right to bring damage or viability concerns to Canna Farms for assessment.
I've never grown cannabis before. Will Canna Farms be providing any assistance with cultivation?
Unfortunately, Canna Farms will not be providing clients with instructions on how to grow your own cannabis at this time. There are many, many different ways to grow cannabis plants at home (indoor/outdoor, soil/soilless/hydroponic/aeroponic, organic, etc.). It would be nearly impossible for us to help every single one of our clients should they have any specific questions related to the health of their plants.
Cultivating your own cannabis at home can be easy, especially if you prepare ahead of time. In general, a successful garden requires the following:
- A clean and sanitary garden is important for the maintenance of optimal plant health. Consider growing in a small, dedicated, easy-to-clean greenhouse, grow tent, or space bucket.
- Light (your yield is directly proportional to the light your plant receives)
- Indoor Production: We recommend High Pressure Sodium (HPS) or Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs); consider electricity costs and heat
- Outdoor Production: Take advantage of the summer sun! Nothing compares to natural light.
- Clean, fresh water is crucial in maintaining optimum plant health (tap water should be fine in most cities, however may require dechlorination). Make sure you have access to ample water to keep your cannabis plants happy!
- Soil/Growing Medium (e.g., Peat, Coco Coir, Rock Wool)
- Selection of a growing medium depends on your level of comfort and growing experience, as well as overall grow setup (and associated budget). Sometimes simple is best! Canna Farms will be shipping live plants in a peat/perlite growing medium.
- Cannabis plants require a lot of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K), as well as other micro nutrients including (but not limited to): Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), and Sulfur (S). Selection of an appropriate fertilizer for each stage of your plant will ensure your plants remain healthy and happy throughout each growth cycle.
- Pest Control
- It is likely that you will have to battle pests (thrips, spider mites, fungus gnats, or aphids) at some point during the lifetime of your plant. Research the best methods for controlling those pests. We recommend the use of sanitation and biological controls over pesticides.
- Depending on how you grow, your plant will be ready for harvest within 3-6 months (the flowering time alone for most cannabis plants is 7-10 weeks).
There is plenty of information available online to help you plan and successfully execute your grow. We recommend the following books on cannabis cultivation. These can be easily purchased online, and they contain everything you may need to know to grow your own cannabis plants:
- Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible (Jorge Cervantes)
- The Cannabis Grow Bible: The Definitive Guide to Growing Marijuana for Recreational and Medical Use (Greg Green)
For more information on growing at home, you can find great information at www.lift.co. You may also head to reddit.com and search for Space Buckets, if you are interested in a low-cost/DIY solution for growing your own cannabis.
How does Canna Farms produce their live cannabis plants?
Each and every CANNA PLANT is cut to order, starting in our dedicated Mother Room where we have a selection of genetics we've acquired throughout the years. Clones are taken from healthy mother plants, grown in a clean, temperature and humidity controlled environment. Production staff follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols to ensure the health and quality of our plants.
Canna Farms grows in an organic growing medium (peat/perlite mixture), using conventional nutrients free of any heavy metals. We DO NOT use pesticides in our facility, and instead rely on biological controls for the management of pests.
Will Canna Farms be offering cannabis seeds for sale?
At this time, Canna Farms will NOT be selling cannabis seeds as starting materials.
Where can I get my homegrown cannabis tested?
The advantage of purchasing cannabis from a Licensed Producer, like Canna Farms, is that each batch of cannabis is tested, and its quality is assured. For those growing at home, we recommend that you test your cannabis for cannabinoid (THC/CBD) potency (at minimum) so that you know exactly what's in your medicine.
Please click here to visit Health Canada's website on testing your own cannabis.

Canna Farms is a Health Canada Licensed Producer of hand picked cannabis products under the ACMPR (formerly MMPR).
Canna Farms was the first LP in British Columbia to receive a ACMPR/MMPR license, and since then our dedicated and talented team has been working hard to provide our patients with exceptional cannabis products at an affordable price.
We pride ourselves in offering a large selection of strains of award winning, artisan, and hand-trimmed cannabis flowers with varying levels of THC and CBD. We also offer cannabis oils with varying levels of THC and CBD to clients who prefer ingesting rather than inhaling their medicine.
Our team has decades of combined experience in cannabis cultivation, scientific research, customer service, and building design. Inspired by the stunning mountainous scenery that surrounds our facility, we grow our plants organically, using glacial-fed groundwater, without any pesticides or foliar sprays.
Our comprehensive Quality Assurance and Control program ensures that all of our products are rigorously tested by an independent, third-party laboratory for cannabinoid potency and a variety of microbial & chemical contaminants including mold, bacteria, and heavy metals.
Canna Farms is 100% Canadian and family-owned and operated, and we source all of our supplies and raw materials from local businesses. Unlike many of our competitors, Canna Farms embraces the rich cannabis culture and cultivation history that Canada and British Columbia are known for. We use traditional strain names, so that our patients are able to easily transition to the ACMPR program, and know exactly what they are ordering.
We are passionate, client-focused, and pride ourselves in delivering unparalleled customer service. We are constantly improving our cultivation methods, and always looking for feedback from our patients.
We offer discrete, express shipping across Canada, using both Canada Post and Purolator. We also offer additional incentives to Canna Farms clients, which we are happy to tell you about! Please contact one of our Client Service Experts at 1-855-882-0988 to learn more.
