Canna Farms is looking for a passionate, motivated, and hard-working Quality Control Technician to assist the Quality Assurance Person (QAP). We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a rapidly-expanding, highly-rated, family-run business that is dedicated and focused on providing high-grade medical cannabis products to clients nationwide. The successful Quality Control Technician will be required to learn, teach, implement, and enforce SOP compliance in all departments, particularly production and manufacturing. The position requires an extremely high level of organization and attention to detail, as well as critical thinking, interpersonal communication with all departments, and strong leadership skills.

Duties include

  • Assisting the Quality Assurance Person (QAP) in managing the Quality Management System
  • Ensuring compliance with the ACMPR, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Pest Control Products Act (PCPA), Fertilizer Act, GPP/GMP, and HACCP
  • Writing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality policies/procedures to ensure continuous compliance with the ACMPR and GPP/GMP Guidelines
  • Enforcing established SOPs and all health/safety protocols and workplace policies to ensure consistent quality of all Canna Farms’ cannabis products, including dried cannabis, cannabis oil, and live cannabis plants
  • Providing training, coaching, and support to employees, as required
  • Reviewing all documents/records as they pertain to raw materials, propagation, growing, harvesting, drying, packaging, storage, picking, destroying, shipping/distribution
  • Conduct random quality control checks for all in-process and finished products; documenting, correcting, and preventing any deviations
  • Reporting of potential or actual process/specification deviations to the QAP and/or Production Manager
  • Participating in analytical investigations of out-of-specification (OOS) results, including: examination of results, generation of deviation reports, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)
  • Analysis of reports and QC data to identify trends, and if necessary, recommend revisions to quality standards and procedures
  • Supporting the production/manufacturing teams in all aspects of production/manufacturing, including: propagation, plant care/maintenance, harvesting/trimming, drying nutrient/fertigation, extraction/derivatization, destruction, sanitation, and record keeping
  • Deployment, calibration, and maintenance of scientific/technical instrumentation, including mass balances; temperature, humidity and CO2 sensors; pH and conductivity probes
  • Monitoring of environmental conditions in production areas, including temperature, humidity, and CO2
  • Updating computer records/ERP and/or performing required calculations
  • Coordination of complaints and/or returned shipments
  • Review/audit and evaluation of quality control data for release and approval of lot records by the Canna Farms QAP
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Quality Assurance Person and/or Management

Education and Experience Requirements

  • University/College Degree/Diploma OR Equivalent Professional Experience in a natural or applied science (e.g., chemistry, biology, food/pharmaceutical sciences) or a related field
  • 1-3 Years’ experience in the Agriculture, Food, or Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Knowledge, training, and significant experience in Good Production Practices (GPP) and/or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, biological pest management strategies, air-quality, harvesting/trimming, drying, and packaging is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry/microbiology and extraction systems is considered an asset
  • Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills; Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Previous experience working in a regulated production environment
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage time, set priorities and multi-task
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be 19+ with the ability to obtain and maintain A/RPIC status, as per Health Canada's ACMPR
  • Previous Health Canada Security Clearance and work experience with a Canadian Licensed Producer (LP) is considered an asset

Section Grower

Canna farms is looking for a passionate, flexible and motivated section grower to help manage the day-to-day-operations of our production facility. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a family run business that is dedicated and focused on providing high grade cannabis, and growing and developing our business within the Canadian market. The successful Section Grower will be required to learn, teach and implement SOP compliance among the production team, in strict compliance with all Health Canada Regulations.  

Duties include

  • Training and managing a strong cannabis production team.
  • Leading by example with the production team, including all aspects of production, from propagation to destruction & sanitation to record keeping. 
  • Responsible for overseeing production demands, following established procedures, and all safety protocols and workplace policies.  
  • Work closely with the QAP to identify plant needs, determine the need for/implement any changes required to maintain the continued success of each crop.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • University/College Degree/Diploma OR Professional Experience in leadership
  • 1-3 Years greenhouse/ACMPR experience with a high level understanding of plant cultivation from seed to harvest. This must include knowledge of advanced nutrients and how they are used to meet the nutritional demands of the plants. 
  • Strong computer skills considered an asset.
  • Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs comfortably.
  • Must be 19+ with the ability to obtain and maintain A/RPIC status, as per Health Canada's ACMPR. 
  • Schedule flexibility is a requirement. Hours are full time, but may include weekends or evenings, depending on production need.

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a family run business that is dedicated and focused on providing high grade cannabis, and growing and developing our business within the Canadian market. The successful Production Worker will be expected to be responsible for contributing to the efficient production of top quality product, in strict compliance with all Health Canada Regulations.  

Duties include

  • Learn and implement all SOP compliance requirements, as directed by your Section Grower.
  • Effectively and safely learn and comply with all sanitation procedures. 
  • Perform tasks related to sanitation, plant propagation, transplant, harvest, destruction and more. 
  • Ability to take direction effectively, and comply with the demands of leadership, as well as Health Canada at all times. 
  • Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
  • Work closely with the Section Grower, and other members of the production team, to effectively manage and maintain successful crops.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 Years greenhouse/ACMPR experience with solid understanding of plant cultivation, from seed to harvest.
  • Basic computer skills considered an asset.
  • Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs comfortably.
