Fertigation Associate

Canna farms is looking for a passionate, flexible and motivated fertigation associate to help manage the day-to-day-fertigation needs of our facility. The successful Fertigation Associate will be required to learn and follow SOP’s  in strict compliance with all Health Canada Regulations.  

Duties & Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Master grower in all aspects of growing of crops including but not exclusive to fertigation and environment control.

  • Leading by example with the production team, including all aspects of production, from propagation to destruction & sanitation to record keeping.

  • Responsible for understanding and maintaining production demands, following established procedures, and all safety protocols and workplace policies.

  • Work closely with the fertigation lead and QAP to identify plant needs, determine the need for/implement any changes required to maintain the continued success of each crop.

  • Maintain records of fertigation and results of finished products and benchmark against defined standards.

  • Trouble shoot and react to plant requirements.

  • Follow and implement best practices and ensure quality standards are achieved.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University/College Degree/Diploma OR Professional Experience in leadership considered an asset.

  • 5 yrs greenhouse experience and/or 1-3 yrs Cannabis Regulations experience with a high level understanding of plant cultivation from seed to harvest. This must include knowledge of advanced nutrients and how they are used to meet the nutritional demands of the plants.

  • Experience with Argus fertigation system

  • Strong computer skills considered an asset.

  • Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs comfortably.

  • Schedule flexibility is a requirement. Hours are full time, but may include weekends or evenings, depending on production need.

The successful sanitation worker will be expected to be responsible for keeping our busy facility up to standards in strict compliance with all Health Canada Regulations.

Duties include:

  • Sanitation of public area floors with designated cleaning supplies and approved floor cleaners as per Canna Farms SOPs

  • Cleaning and wiping down of all public area surfaces including but not limited to; walls, cupboards, shelves, doors, light switches, ceilings as scheduled or needed

  • Moving equipment and product up to 50lbs

  • Adhere to Good Practices and Procedures (GPP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDocP)

  • Complete all documentation in real-time on a daily, weekly and monthly basis while

  • Responsible for full sanitation and stocking of all bathrooms located in the facility (coordinates with logistics to replenish supplies)

  • Responsible for restocking towel dispensers, hand sanitizers, soap dispensers, glove racks outside cultivation areas and alerting procurement when sanitation inventory is low

  • Perform spot cleaning in emergency situations as required (toilet overflows, spilled garbage etc.)

Canna Farms is looking for a passionate, motivated, and hard-working Quality Control Technician to assist the Quality Assurance Person (QAP). We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a rapidly-expanding, highly-rated, family-run business that is dedicated and focused on providing high-grade medical cannabis products to clients nationwide. The successful Quality Control Technician will be required to learn, teach, implement, and enforce SOP compliance in all departments, particularly production and manufacturing. The position requires an extremely high-level of organization and attention to detail, as well as critical thinking, interpersonal communication with all departments, and strong leadership skills.

Duties include:

  • Assisting the Quality Assurance Person (QAP) in managing the Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Ensure compliance with the Cannabis Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Narcotics Control Regulations (NCR), Pest Control Products Act (PCPA), Fertilizer Act, GPP/GMP, and HACCP

  • Writing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality policies/procedures to ensure continuous compliance with the Cannabis Act and GPP/GMP

  • Enforcing established SOPs and all health/safety protocols and workplace policies to ensure consistent quality of all Canna Farms’ cannabis products, including dried cannabis, cannabis oil, and live cannabis plants

  • Provide training, coaching, and support to employees, as required

  • Review all documents/records as they pertain to raw materials, propagation, growing, harvesting, drying, packaging, storage, picking, destroying, and shipping/distribution

  • Conduct random quality control checks for all in-process and finished products; documenting, correcting, and preventing any deviations

  • Reporting of potential or actual process/specification deviations to the QAP and/or Production Manager

  • Participating in analytical investigations of out-of-specification (OOS) results, including: examination of results, generation of deviation reports, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)

  • Analysis of reports and QC data to identify trends, and if necessary, recommend revisions to quality standards and procedures

  • Supporting the production/manufacturing teams in all aspects of production/manufacturing, including: propagation, plant care/maintenance, harvesting/trimming, drying nutrient/fertigation, extraction/derivatization, destruction, sanitation, and record keeping

  • Deployment, calibration, and maintenance of scientific/technical instrumentation, including mass balances; temperature, humidity and CO2 sensors; pH and conductivity probes

  • Monitoring of environmental conditions in production areas, including temperature, humidity, and CO2

  • Update computer records/ERP and/or perform required calculations

  • Coordination of complaints and/or returned shipments

  • Review/audit and evaluation of quality control data for release and approval of lot records by the Canna Farms QAP

  • Other duties, as assigned by the Quality Assurance Person and/or Senior Management

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University/College Degree/Diploma OR Equivalent Professional Experience in a natural or applied science (e.g., chemistry, biology, food/pharmaceutical sciences or a related field)

  • 1-3+ years’ experience in the Legal Cannabis, Agriculture, Food, or Pharmaceutical Industry

  • Knowledge, training, and significant experience in Good Production Practices (GPP) and/or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, biological pest management strategies, air-flow, and harvesting/trimming, drying, and packaging is considered an asset

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry/microbiology and extraction systems is considered an asset

  • Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.

  • Strong computer skills; Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel

  • Previous experience working in a regulated production environment

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage time, set priorities, and multi-task

The Opportunity:
Canna Farms Limited, is seeking an Engineering Assistant to be located in Surrey British Columbia who is able to split their time working out of the company’s Surrey office space and the production facilities in Hope. The Engineering Assistant will provide engineering and project management support to the Senior VP, Engineering. This individual will be heavily involved in the construction activity of all Canna farm’s facilities. 

Key Responsibilities
-Assist the Engineer in all aspects of day to day project management and planning, 
-Monitor timelines and budgets and adherence to the project plan
-Verification of project work and performance to ensure expected standards are met
-Remain current on and keep abreast of industry performance standards and best practices and ensure that all Canna Farms facilities meet or exceed the established benchmarks for project development
-Support the activities and operations of the Maintenance Department
-Assist in the development of a preventative maintenance schedule
-Investigate downtime, deviations, and equipment failures with the help of the quality and maintenance teams
-Provide technical support to the production operations in the form of problem solving
-Understand the equipment condition, performance and limitations at each facility

Qualifications and Skills

Academic/Educational Requirements
· Degree or experience in Engineering or Construction 
· Project management experience
·LEAN and Six Sigma training is an asset

Required Skills/Experience/Knowledge
· 5 + years of technical and / or project management experience  OR 2 + years of construction work experience
· Technical drawing experience
